Day School History
The first Shabbat service for the newly formed Temple Beth Hillel took place on December 11, 1946. By 1956, the sanctuary we enjoy today was dedicated.
In 1994, Rabbi Jim Kaufman spearheaded an effort to establish the only Jewish Day School in the San Fernando Valley that is affiliated with the Reform Movement. In 2004, Beth Hillel Day School received a six year accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Bureau of Jewish Education of Greater Los Angeles. The WASC Committee commended us for providing “a rich, challenging and diverse program across all subject areas.”
The last three years have been an exciting period of growth and change. Our enrollment has increased by 61% and we have added a transitional kindergarten and a sixth grade class.
