Our Program in Brief
Beth Hillel Day School is committed to developing the academic skills, individual talents and Jewish identity of every child within a warm, inclusive school community affiliated with the Reform Movement. By maintaining an excellent teacher to student ratio and utilizing differentiated instruction, Beth Hillel Day School creates an individualized learning environment capable of addressing the particular learning needs of each student. The warm, nurturing environment of our school also allows children to naturally develop cooperative relationships and strong, lasting friendships as well as to understand their responsibilities as a member of the group.
The GENERAL STUDIES program at Beth Hillel Day School provides a strong academic foundation which includes mathematics, social studies, science and language arts and aims at providing students with a firm mastery of academic skills. Teachers utilize a hands-on, experiential approach, in the belief that children learn best by doing.
Beth Hillel Day School’s JEWISH STUDIES program is designed to nurture within each child a strong Jewish identity and to set them on a path of personal discovery into Jewish history, culture and tradition. Emphasis is placed on Jewish text, holidays, Tzedakah (charitable giving), and Tefillah (prayer). The Hebrew language program utilizes immersion methodology and emphasizes basic communication skills, including reading, writing, and conversation. Through the use of contemporary Israeli children’s literature, students are encouraged to develop a love of Hebrew.
All teachers integrate the teaching of Jewish Studies and Hebrew into the daily classroom experience. This integrated approach to learning allows students to see their world through Jewish eyes, combining the secular and Jewish perspectives and establishing a pattern of learning, ethics and spirituality that will last a lifetime.
We believe that a well-rounded liberal arts education is essential in laying the foundation for middle school and beyond. In addition to Judaic studies, our program is enriched by specialists in computer science, art, music, dance, library and physical education. After school care is available, and we offer after school enrichment programs to expand on student talents and interests.
