Claudine Douglas
Director of Early Childhood Education
As a highly regarded educator for the last 20 years, Claudine brings a wealth of expertise and experience to our Early Childhood Education program. Claudine continues to explore new ways to provide students with a rewarding, engaging and valuable educational experiences.
A Southern California native, Claudine attended preschool at the Jewish Community Center in Granada Hills and embraced Jewish values from an early age. She knew early on that she wanted to be an educator; Claudine earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a graduate degree with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Diego State University. As a teacher in La Canada Unified School District, she took on additional district leadership roles, including district assessment mentor, grade level technology chair, and curriculum writer. In addition, Claudine has completed additional credits and initiatives at UCLA in early childhood education as well as early childhood administration and has completed administrative training through Los Angeles County’s California School Leadership Academy.
Claudine has worked passionately with all ages and led educational experiences through Parent & Me groups, elementary school, preschool enrichment and has served as an educational consultant for Los Angeles Unified School District as well as UCLA.
A decade ago, Claudine walked into TBH’s Baby & Me class with her then 6-week-old son and soon realized what a truly transformative experience that would turn out to be. For the last seven years, Claudine has led ECE initiatives at TBH and was instrumental in the development of highly engaging enrichment programs, valuable Parent & Me classes, as well as the design and execution of a highly successful summer camp program. Claudine’s warmth, understanding and calm demeanor are appreciated by both the staff and families in the ECE.
Kathryn Jensen
Elementary Head of School
Kathryn Jensen has worked with private, public, and charter schools in a variety of capacities. Her experiences include grant writing, instructional coaching, strategic planning, and curriculum design. In 2012, Kathryn was the Founding Teacher for a K-6 Elementary School in Minnetonka, MN. In the same year, she received her Master’s Degree from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN studying how movement and freeplay impact student achievement.
These experiences follow Kathryn to Beth Hillel from the Midwest where she was born and raised. She joined the Beth Hillel community after moving to California in August 2014 and started in the role of Interim Head of School in 2015.
Kathryn is passionate about creating schools where social and emotional development is an equal importance to rigorous and exciting curriculum. She continues to reflect on the practice of teaching and caring for the whole child and making students future-ready.
