Parent & Me  (ages 3 mo.- 3 years)

Beth Hillel’s ECE Parenting Center offers opportunities for parents and children to spend special time together in a warm and friendly Jewish environment.

Our PARENT & ME classes are designed to meet the developmental and social needs of each child and to give parents and children a chance to play together as they explore indoor and outdoor environments and a wide variety of hands-on learning activities. All classes include time for free play, a snack, singing, time on the outside playground, and opportunities for parents to connect with other parents in our community. Each week we focus on a Jewish theme or age-appropriate project, which often includes sensory experiences, such as music, science, art, movement, dance, and cooking. We also offer evening classes for grandparents and working parents.

In addition, we offer a TRANSITION class for our children who are preparing to enter nursery school. This class makes the process of moving into preschool smooth by introducing simple classroom routines, mimicking a preschool schedule, nurturing relationships with teachers and children, and helping the child to become independent.

In our BABY & ME class, parents and children begin to explore developmental milestones and new skills. Fun projects, musical movement, and concrete parenting discussions help navigate these new stages of childhood. Some of the topics we cover are sleep, food and food allergies, temperament, attachment, self-care and a host of other parenting-related concerns. This class takes place in our relaxed, supportive and comforting atmosphere. **

Our parenting program offers morning and evening PARENT EDUCATION lectures as well as discussions for parents with young children. Past opportunities have included lectures from parenting experts, Jewish Parenting with the Rabbi, and seminars with different guest speakers, such as Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Nutritionists, and Behavioral Specialists. As a part of the First 36 Project (a groundbreaking program designed to create strategies to help parents promote healthy connections and resilience with their children), we strive to share the newest pertinent information to inform our parenting and education community.

We are Part of the First 36 Project

The First 36 Project is a ground-breaking pilot program developed by the Simms/Mann Institute, BJE (Builders for Jewish Education) and The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. The First 36 Project was created to provide Parent & Me facilitators with an exclusive professional development opportunity. It offers access to the latest child development theories combined with cutting-edge neuroscience research relating to children ages 0-3-and strategies to help parents promote healthy connections and resilience with their children. In addition to cohort-based learning, Parent & Me facilitators receive one-on-one coaching and consultation, including class visits, observation, and feedback. Our school is one of a select group of Los Angeles area early childhood centers chosen to participate in The First 36 Project.
