Youth Programs

HRTY Katan

Our youth group for 2nd and 3rd graders. HRTY Katan is an introduction and sneak peek to our youth group programming. Its goal is to give TBH members a chance to socialize outside of the classrooms and with other students. Participants will have the chance to engage in social action projects, learn about the Jewish holidays in different ways, and enjoy Judaism through the arts.

Jr. HRTY

Programs for our 4th-7th graders focus on fun, social action, and Jewish values. Programs are often held with other youth groups from around the city. Our events are designed especially for this age group, providing participants with age-appropriate activities in a safe, welcoming and caring community of peers. 

HRTY

Our senior youth group, HRTY, is for 8th-12th graders. HRTY members develop leadership skills and run their own program of social and educational activities with the guidance of an adult supervisor. TBH teens serve on the board to plan and execute all sorts of fun and meaningful programming. HRTY participates in temple events, local events, and national events as part of the Reform movement’s NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth) organization, including retreat weekends with 200 other Jewish teens.

Temple Beth Hillel youth groups enable our students to work together, build character and confidence and develop their individual potential in an exciting format. These youth programs offer age-appropriate opportunities such as trips, sports, social action, games, art, drama, music, and free discussion. Examples of programs include ice cream socials, bowling, amusement park trips, Build-a-Bear for children in need, Shabbat retreat weekends, Havdalah celebrations, kippot creation, and Tzedekah.

Religious Recognitions

Women of Temple Beth Hillel is proud to sponsor recognition workshops for the official Judaic Recognitions offered by the National Jewish Girl Scout Committee for all levels of Girl Scouts. You do not have to be a member of a troop based here at Temple Beth Hillel or be a member of Temple Beth Hillel to attend these workshops. Brownies will earn the Lehavah Award, Juniors will earn the Bat Or Award and cadets and seniors will earn the Menorah and Or Emunah Awards respectively.

Cub Scout Pack 311

Cub Scout Pack 311 (Boys, 1st through 5th Grades): Cub Scouting is a year-round, home-centered program that teaches life skills, habits, values, and attitudes consistent with the interests of Temple Beth Hillel. We proudly sponsor a thriving Cub Pack which involves boys, their parents, and other family members in a variety of activities that encourage character development, physical coordination, family unity, and enthusiasm for learning. Cub Scouts participate in model boat and car racing derbies, fishing, camping, hiking, and other fun outings.  Additionally, Jewish Cub Scouts can earn Maccabee and Aleph Religious Emblems which they wear on their uniforms.

Boy Scout Troop 36

Boy Scouting at Temple Beth Hillel (for boys 6th grade and above) encourages boys to develop physical, mental and emotional fitness and to adopt and live by meaningful personal standards through Judaism, and as a cornerstone for success in life. Activities include fitness and leadership training, wilderness adventures (camping, whitewater rafting, hiking, boating, climbing, etc.), and merit badge incentives for boys mastering hobby and career skills. As in the Cub Scout Program, Jewish Boy Scouts also may earn religious emblems and attend Kinnusim (see above).

Temple Beth Hillel is an inclusive community. Our Scout units select leaders based upon the values that we find important in Reform Judaism and at Temple Beth Hillel.
